Moodhook helps you collect visual references, save them to boards, arrange them on a canvas, and optionally ask Moody AI for creative direction. This Privacy Policy explains what information Moodhook handles when you use the Moodhook Chrome extension and the Moodhook board at moodhook.ai.
Chrome Web Store Limited Use disclosure: Moodhook's use and transfer of information received through Chrome extension permissions complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Information we handle
- Board content: images you upload or capture, image titles, notes, roles, tags, color palettes, canvas positions, shapes, links, direction cards, and board activity.
- Source metadata: source page URL, source title, source domain, image URL, original alt text, and capture timestamps when available.
- Account information: if you sign in, Moodhook may handle your email address, user ID, session state, and plan or usage status needed for account features.
- Extension state: selected captures, target board, capture session state, import queues, settings, storage health, and backup metadata.
- Moody AI settings and requests: if you enable Moody AI, Moodhook may send compact board context, your prompt, selected references, source domains, and source URLs when the "Send source URLs" setting is enabled. The provider endpoint and optional first-party headers are stored only so the feature can connect.
How we collect information
Moodhook collects information when you choose to upload an image, start capture on a webpage, select images to import, edit a board, export or import a backup, sign in, or enable optional Moody AI settings. The extension uses Chrome permissions only to support those user-facing actions.
How we use information
- To save and restore your moodboards, references, canvas layout, settings, and backups.
- To capture selected images from webpages and import them into the board you choose.
- To show storage health, prevent accidental data loss, and troubleshoot import or save failures.
- To sync or recover board data when account or cloud features are enabled.
- To generate Moody AI responses when you enable and use an AI provider endpoint.
- To maintain, secure, debug, and improve Moodhook's core visual research features.
Storage and retention
In the extension, project data is stored in chrome.storage.local, image bytes are stored in IndexedDB, short-lived capture state may use chrome.storage.session, and some UI preferences may use browser localStorage. Local data remains in your browser until you delete it, clear browser storage, uninstall the extension, import a replacement backup, or use Moodhook controls that remove it. Backups you export contain board data and image assets and are controlled by you.
If you use the web board or sign in for cloud features, Moodhook may store board and account data on Moodhook-controlled infrastructure so the service can sync, recover, and display your boards. Cloud retention depends on the account and deletion controls available in the production service.
Sharing and transfers
- Moodhook does not sell your personal information or board content.
- Moodhook does not use or transfer your data for personalized advertising, retargeting, credit decisions, or data broker services.
- Moodhook may transfer data to service providers only when needed to provide, secure, maintain, or improve Moodhook features.
- If you enable Moody AI, selected board context is sent to the provider endpoint you configure or to a Moodhook first-party proxy. You can turn off source URLs for Moody AI in Settings.
- Moodhook may disclose information if required by law, to protect users or the service, or as part of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets where permitted by law and platform policy.
Moodhook does not allow humans to read your board content or captured data except with your consent for support, when necessary for security or abuse investigation, to comply with law, or when data has been aggregated and anonymized for internal operations.
Chrome extension permissions
Moodhook requests storage and capture-related permissions so it can save boards, store images, run capture UI on webpages, detect navigation during capture, and import selected references. Host access is used for the capture workflow and is not used to collect unrelated browsing activity.
Your choices
- You can choose which images to capture or upload.
- You can delete references, clear board content, export backups, import backups, or remove local browser data.
- You can disable Moody AI or disable source URLs in Moody AI settings.
- You can sign out of account features; local boards continue to work unless you delete local data.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, portability, or restriction of certain personal information. Moodhook will honor applicable privacy rights through the official support channel.
Security
Moodhook uses browser storage, extension isolation, and HTTPS where network features are used. Moody AI settings are designed for first-party proxy endpoints; do not paste third-party provider API keys into the extension. No method of storage or transmission is perfectly secure, so you should avoid saving content you are not allowed to store or share.
Children
Moodhook is not directed to children under 13, and you should not use Moodhook to knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes and contact
Moodhook may update this Privacy Policy as the product changes. If the update materially changes how user data is handled, Moodhook will provide notice through the product, website, listing, or another reasonable channel.
